The scene opens with a flashback to the moment when Hirokazu was struck in the head by a car. The narrator tells us that he was about to save the man when he was hit, but he was too scared to do so. He tells the audience that he came to see the family to be by their side. He also tells them that they came to celebrate their anniversary, and that he wanted to give them something special to remember their anniversary with. He says that he wants to be part of the family, but that he doesn't want to be their mother-in-law yet. He wants to someday become someone who can hold his head up high. He thanks the family for their hospitality, and says he'll be back soon. He's happy for her, though, because she's moving forward.
