Madame Pernelle is in a foul coughing fit as she tries to get away from her lover. She tells him that she has disobeyed the Catholic church for years and has allowed her family to live in Paris. She asks him to hurry up and take care of the family. He agrees and tells her that he is on his way to Paris.
