In this second part of the story, the flying skull is introduced. It is a ritual that involves casting a skull through the air and draining the blood of animals until it is found by the creature's quarry. Once the creature has found its quarry, the skull is cast back into the air, and the entrails of the creature disappear. The creature then receives increased power, and its prey disappears, leaving only its disembodied head to fly into the sky. The monster tells the monster that he is close to killing the monster, but that the monster has only helped people, and that if the monster succeeds, he will no longer be able to help anyone. He says that they have a problem: nobody is home, and they have been looking for the monster for days. He tells them that he has saved their son's life, and says that he will likely die of the madness, but he does not know how to control his blood thirst. He asks the monster to kill him.
