About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that his father is a government official, so he spends a lot of his time in the office. His mother stays home and takes care of him. He begs her to take him every week, but her friend never comes back. The narrator says that part of him always hated his mother after that. He says that when he came home, he realized what had happened. The doctor says he's worse than ever, so his mom has agreed to let him stay for a bit longer. He tells her to make sure she gives the doctor her telephone number, and she says that she'll see her two this afternoon. She also says that if she's not eating, she should make sure to stick all her tubes in her arms. She tells him that she will call the doctor, and he says that he'll call the author of the book, Stephen Miller, to find out how they can join up and earn money for an education. The author says that they'll meet Grace in a few days, and the narrator says he looks forward to meeting her.
