About This Chapter
"A Two Can You Get Up, or Do You Need Some Help?" Miller asks Grace if she's acting weird again. Grace says she doesn't care. She's been acting weird all day, and now she can't breathe. She tells her father she wants to go to the hospital, but he's not allowed to smoke in her room. She asks if she needs anything, and he says she'll be fine. He also tells her that Grace has been keeping the windows open all day. Grace is sick, he says, because she came down with her mom's illness after her mother died. She knows everything, he tells her, and that's why she has come down with this illness. He tells her not to worry about her writing, and to ask Grace if he can read her work. Grace thanks him, and they go off to buy her a book. Miller tells Grace that he'd feel bad if something happened to her, but she says it's her choice. He says she should pay attention to what's going on around her, because there are so many sick people out there. Grace tells him that her mother was miserable when she got sick, and the rest of her family avoids her and her father. She wonders what her mother would think of her, if she knew that her father wasn't her real father. Miller says he'll call the ambulance god if Grace gets sick again. He's also prepared to pay a lawyer to make sure that "grace stays" in the hospital. He wants to know who's dealing with this, and Grace says it was a "selfish mistake" on her part to run away from home
