Sitting in her room, satomi is disturbed by the events of the previous night. She is afraid that she has seen hanako, and she is also afraid that someone has been following her. She begs the others to help her, but they refuse to do so, saying that it is the stress of the situation that is causing her to be disturbed. She tells them that hanako is the daughter of a teacher, and that one day she ran into the lunatic who escaped from her mother's house. The other version of the story is that she vomited in the toilet after school, and the other version says that she is haunted by the memory of her mother, but that she does not leave the school's toilets. The teacher who is tending to Etsuko tries to comfort satomi, but she is too upset to speak. She asks her friend to knock on the door, and when she does, she is surprised to find that the teacher is not so loud as she had been. She then tells the story of how satomi had been dared to summon her friend, and how she fell ill soon after, and was not allowed to mention the name of hanako. Since then, strange things seem to be happening in the school, including hanako whispering her name in the bathroom.
