The next day, the two of them go for a walk, and the narrator complains that he's having a hard time getting out of the house because of the heat. He's also worried about the fact that Tanigaki is going to be at the festival with her dog, and he wants to make sure that she's not there. The two decide to go to the festival together, but the narrator doesn't want to go, because he'd rather be with his dog. He also wants to know why he was invited, and why he didn't go with his friend. The narrator complains about the weather, and wonders if it's going to get worse before it gets better.
