In this chapter, Minjae explains that he's just trying to avoid what he likes to do. He doesn't want to meet anyone who's a serial killer, so he decides to research famous serial killers in the past to see if they're safe from being released from prison. He remembers the first serial killer of the 1980s, a monk named Kim Taesoo, who was executed on May 30, 1988. He also remembers Kim's mother, who he met in the store when he was asking for money. Minjaee wonders why he didn't go home earlier and gives him a pack of cigarettes. He also wonders if there's any surveillance camera in the house.
