It's a "loveless marriage" , says the narrator, and he's angry. He's going to the courthouse to get married. He doesn't know what to say. He can't figure out how he can say "work hard" when he has to work so hard to be in love with him. The narrator says that he'll grow to love him as they live together. He says that the most important condition in marriage is "the condition" . The teacher agrees with the narrator. He thinks that marriage isn't a dream anymore, and that both of them are immature. He suggests that they drop out of school and find a job as a middle school graduate. There's also a blue collar job for middle school graduates, like a gas station part-timer, a restaurant assistant, a milk delivery guy, and so on. He concludes that marriage is the only condition that completes him.
