About This Chapter
Now that the cadets are in uniform, they're supposed to be goofballs and goof-off kids. They're also supposed to pretend to be rebellious and rebellious-looking so they don't look like the stereotypical jocks, bullies, nerds and prom queens that the military recruiters want them to be. The narrator is glad he's accepted to the school, because it's a "proving ground" where cadets learn to "face fear, danger, or adversity" . He's also glad that the school is private, because he thinks that's where spies are spying on him and his classmates. He thinks that the girl in the class is always talking to him, and that she freaks him out because she's spying on everyone else. The school doesn't have enough money to pay for uniforms, so they've outfitted the cadets with uniforms and put them in a secret training facility called a "prep school" , where they'll learn how to "go under deep cover" and not be seen by anyone.
