About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn the story of how Red Bull lost his family in the Battle of Ho Chi Minh City. The narrator tells us that the story was not Red Bull's, but that of a young pickpocket named Kyrie who met him in the streets of Shanghai many years ago. The two of them have known each other for many years, and the narrator tells Kyrie that he loves him even though he does not love himself. He tells the young man that killing him before he is capable of doing so would have meant that he had spent his life searching for his father. The young man tells the narrator that he will never be able to defeat Red Bull, because he is not from Harlem. He says that killing his father would be like taking all of his father's possessions, and that he would never betray him again.
