About This Chapter
In a soliloquy, Gulliver tells the others that he is trapped in the castle. He tells them that he does not understand why they are so kind to him. He says that there is a prince waiting to be released from the castle, and that they should not let the master be so terrible as he is. He asks them to get him something for his room, but they do not want to give him anything. He wonders why they did not want him to know about the place, and wonders why he was not told about it. He feels nervous about the castle and wonders what he could have done to escape. He is afraid that the master is still acting like a monster, and he wonders why the others did not tell him what was going on. He thinks that if he had not run away, he would not have seen the expression on his face, and if he held still, it would have not hurt as much. Gulliver says that if she had held on to him, he wouldnt have done what he did. She says that she should have learned to control her temper, because the master has cursed her. He lost his mother when he was a child, and his father twisted him to be like his cruel father. Gulliver asks if there is any way that they can lift the curse, and she says that they have made their bed, and they should lie in it. She wonders if anyone would stop her if she tried to leave, but she does not think anyone would.
