In this chapter, we meet the robot's creator, Emmie, who has been working on the robot since the beginning of the day. Emmie's boss, Mr. Manette, tells him that he's got a lot of work to do, and that he needs to find a way to make the robot do more work. He tells Emmie to be cool and to smile, and to not swear. He also tells her that she has the ability to learn things that other people can't, like how to make a robot do something that it's not supposed to do. He says that she'll be able to do a lot more work if she just gets better at what she's doing. She agrees, and he tells her to be nice to her.
