In this chapter, we learn that the banished witch is still alive, and that she is fighting with a warlock. The warlock is a member of the elite witches' squadron, who protect the district from the fairies and deliver important information to the district's mayors. The chapter ends with a soliloquy by the witch, in which she tells the reader that she does not know why she tried to speak to her.
