About This Chapter
The narrator begins this chapter by asking Peter if he thinks that Cloten might have been involved in the recent robberies. Peter admits that he doesn't know, but says that he had assumed that the thief was working alone. The narrator then asks Peter why he hasn't been tutoring Cloten. Peter replies that he has been failing his son in science because Cloten has never tried to teach him. Peter says that the diet in the latest issue of teen fashion isn't for everyone, but for those who really need it. Peter then asks the narrator to look at all the dresses in the fashion magazines. He finds them pretty, but he can't find enough money to buy a new one. He also wonders if Cloten was caught stealing a painting from the art museum. Peter tells the narrator that he looked up Cloten's former school in Annapolis, but there is no record on the entire school. He decides to keep following Cloten, hoping that he'll be able to figure out what's wrong with him
