The chapter opens with a flashback to the day in which Paul's parents were killed in a plane crash. The family was on their way home from a business trip when the plane came down, killing everyone on board except for Paul and his father. The only person who survived the crash was Paul, who was the manager of the estate where the family lived. He was seriously injured in the crash, and was in the hospital for a week. Paul asks his father when he will be able to return home, and he is shocked to find that he has received a haircut. He also learns that the family has decided to dump their guitar player, who has been hanging around the neck of Paul. He asks Paul if he can help him with a song, and Paul tells him that he needs to check his body before he can do so. He then asks Paul to come in and talk to him. Paul says that he wants to talk to Paul about his girlfriend, but that she is too young to be a proper match for him.
