This chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the novel, in which Hiroyuki, the protagonist's older brother, is a student at the same school as Hiroyuki's younger brother, Selia. Selia is a shy girl who has been teased by her older brother for being short and awkward. The two of them sit next to one another in class, and Selia tries to comfort her by saying that she is taller than her brother, but she cannot stand to be next to him.
