About This Chapter
The wolf and the baby are still together, and the wolf tells the baby not to worry, because he'll take care of the baby. He's got his own dog, and he's going to call him Shadow. The wolf says they're going to go find other people, so they can get a handle on the situation. They're not going to scare anyone, he says, because usually there are always towns or cities close by. So they'll just head out as soon as the leader tells them that the baby ran off in the direction of the wolf. The leader says she saw the wolf running in this direction, but the wolf doesn't believe her. He says they were fighting a bunch of boars when they got separated, so if the leader would hand over the wolf, they'd just be on their way. He asks the leader if he'd like to tell them the truth, or he can leave. The choice is hiss, the wolf says. He tells the leader that he had to piss in a river to get to this point, and that's why the wolf is so angry. He wants to kill the leader and his friends, but he can't because he has five seconds to make a decision.
