In this chapter, we learn that Hiroshi has fled from his cell, and that he has robbed a number of serious charges against him if he were to hand him over to the authorities. Hiroshi tells his brother that he will never draw again, and he tells him that he just heard that his brother was trying to put him at ease before scolding him. He says that he can barely show his face to his father, since even at his age, he is quick to forget about his younger brother's pursuit of anyone.
