In this chapter, the reader is introduced to the grandson of the founder of the tiangang, the ancient Chinese system of self-transformation. The grandson, known as "Wuzu," is a young man of about twenty-five years old. He is a member of the tribe that has been around for thousands of years. His grandfather, Wuzu's father, was a great scholar and teacher, and the grandson's great-great-grandfather was a famous physician. Wuzu is a very religious man, and he believes in the power of the afterlife. He believes that one day he will be able to travel back in time to the time of the Buddha.
