This chapter opens with a conversation between a girl named kanahoshida and a young man named matsueda. The girl asks the young man what his problem is. The young man tells her that he wants to fall in love with someone. He is a virgin, but wants his first real experience with someone before he marries someone else. He says that there is no future with someone who does this with everyone, but with someone like him, there is "ideal marriage material." The girl says that she thinks this is due to experience. She says that if the man is so fixated on his quest, then there must be a reason for it. If it is a trauma or unrequited love, then this is not the way it is supposed to be. She wonders who the man she loves is. She asks him why he is hanging out with her on his way home from a friend's party. The man says that he is out drinking alone. She shoos him away and tells him to go home. She tells him that she is the one who gave everyone tea and shoves him when he tries to shove her back. She then asks him if he would like to join her in the next round of matchmaking. He replies that he would love to do so, but that he does not want to do it with a girl like her.
