About This Chapter
It's the end of the first chapter, and we're introduced to the narrator. He's all, "I love you, darling. I'm so in love with you that I want to kiss you." The narrator tells us that she's finally gotten over her crush's insistence that she kiss him. The narrator explains that the reason the two of them didn't get along when they were younger is because of the fact that the mother of the girl they were meant to be together wouldn't let them go to school together because of her mother's grudge against the narrator's father. So, back in the day, the only way the two could have gotten along was if the girl's mother hated the narrator forever. Now that the narrator has gotten over his crush, he realizes how happy he is to be able to share his happiness with the girl he loves. He tells the girl that he's willing to share the pain and the joys of life with her. The girl is happy to hear this, and the narrator tells her that her first love is her teacher in the fifth grade.
