The chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which we learn that Dr. Barlow was killed by the 462, and that the conspirators were planning to kill him. The flashback is followed by a description of how the group came to be, and how they were able to defeat the 463. The chapter ends with a discussion of the importance of self-sacrifice, and of the fact that the group is willing to sacrifice their own lives in order to help others.
