The chapter opens with Hiroshi's declaration that he will risk his life to protect his friend. He asks if it's true that he used to be a young leader of the group. Hiroshi replies that he's been hiding this from his boss. He says that his father tried to get him a job, but that he didn't want to leave the family because everyone was afraid of him. When he was a teenager, he felt like he wasn't good enough for his family because of his family's job. He wanted to live as a normal person, he says, but he was afraid that people would be scared of him and that his field of activities would be limited. He was also afraid of the succession dispute that was going on in his family. He felt like no one knew who he was, so he went to places where no one would know about him. That's when he met Hiroshi. He tells his friend that he feels like he is the same as everyone else, and that no matter how hard he tries, he'll always fall behind. He wants to use his English as a skill to find a job in the group, and he says that if he can do so, he can make a good living for himself. When Hiroshi asks how he could possibly get his family to pay attention to him, he tells him that he has been working hard on his English. He adds that he wants to continue the family legacy, so that's why he gave up everything. He's afraid that someday, he might be hurt, and wants to get rid of his past.
