About This Chapter
In this chapter, the students discuss how the attack on their school has changed them. They feel that they've had enough time to get over the attack, but now they feel like they're back in control of their lives. They talk about the new mashups and paperdolls that are popping up all over the place, and how some of them don't even have the luxury of these things. They also talk about how the anti-American vigilantes are spreading their crimes over the internet, and that their sister is in full remission from her breast cancer. The students wonder if they'll ever be friends again, and they tease each other about the fact that they have no powers. They wonder if the news of the attack will scare people, and if they will be treated differently in the future. They joke about how they could take turns playing the mastermind, like they did in the old days. They even joke about the "ghost chit" on the radio, who they think is the "fat f" of the "radio bigot." They also joke about Spanish slang for prick or chole, and about how if they did things the way they do, they'd be "spineless" .
