About This Chapter
Thanks, Marcus. Without you, we begin our training. Marcus tells us that they have managed to get back into the city. The governor has informed him that Marcus and Jarndyce have escaped from prison, and that they cannot be found. Marcus asks the governor's men to find him a ship that can shelter a large number of slaves. He tells them that he has spoken to the governor, who has reassured him that it was Cornelius who sent the ship on its mission. Marcus says that he will have to go and speak to his boss, but that he doesn't have anything to worry about. It seems that the proof that he seeks is a fakery. It's a Jatred getting away, and they're going to have him locked up in a vise. Marcus reminds him that the principle of slavery has been abolished, and the slaves are truly free. He asks him to go quickly and tell him about the "regenerative properties" of the swamp. He's not sure that he understands him.
