In this final scene of the four John difools, we learn that the police officer, Cybo, has been sent to investigate the disappearance of Lucentio. Cybo reports that the suspect has lost his memory, and that he is falling into the Great Acid Lake. The police officer tells Cybo to release the suspect, as long as he does not remember anything important. The suspect's brain is "cleaned" of all traces of memory except for luz's face, which has been burned in the process of purging the brain. In a soliloquy, the detective wonders why he is so important, and wonders if he ever knew that he loved luz.
