In this chapter, we learn that the narrator is a student at a university in the city of seoul, South Korea. He is staying in a boarding house, and he tells his auntie that he has met a friend of his who has come from a neighboring province. The friend is angry because he has caught up with his girlfriend and is living with her. The auntie is shocked, but the narrator says that it is still hard for him to see his friend living with a woman like his. He says that he can go to his friend's house and take a shower, but that he cannot believe that he got so hard by seeing his friend live with his lover. He feels that he is a pervert, and that he needs to release this from him. He notices that his noona is mean, but he does not do anything about it. A few days later, he learns that her name is Sunmi, and she is a famous card player at his school. The narrator feels that his feelings towards his sister are growing larger and larger. He asks his friend if he is going to go to a club with them, and the friend says yes. He goes to the club, and when he returns, he finds that his friend has passed out from drinking alone.
