He asks whoosh the "former blood-clawed" to tell him why he betrayed the tribe, and the narrator tells him that he's sullied the "name of blood claw" by being so excitable in the past. He reminds the narrator not to only watch the enemy in front of him, but to also watch his back. He warns the narrator that "impulsiveness is the worst enemy" and that sacrifices are inevitable in battle. The chapter ends with a reminder that the biggest crisis for the mutinous warriors is not the quick-sand claws, but the fact that they're not as bad as they used to be.
