About This Chapter
In the first inning of the second game of the season, Yuka and Shimomura reminisce about the summer of their high school days together, when they played together in the play-off of the regional tournament. Yuka says that she is always telling Shimimura to wait for her, and that she always tells him to "throw your shoulder out" . She says that the coach will be there, but that he is working hard because he is taking entrance exams to enter university. She tells him that she will wash her uniform and return anytime she wants. She asks him if he knows what is going on with him, and he says that he has no idea. He tells her that he wants to play catch with her. He asks her if she is familiar with the coach, and she says she is. He says he used to be a professional player, and now he works as an assistant to a former player. He also says that Shimikura looks older than the former player, who used to work as a director at a training camp for college students. He adds that she looks older because she has ritsu, who is the only one who can catch the ball. He wonders if he is better off than Yuka, and says he is sure he is, since he is able to throw the ball and mean it. He then asks if she knows about the coach's photo, which she says is from junior high school. He is surprised to see that she has feelings for him, because she is the one who has not been straight with him. He wants to hurry up to catch the next ball, and tells her to get on the grip of the ball so that he can get it on the next one. He goes on to say that if he loves only baseball, that is not what he wants, since the coach knows everything about him. She replies that she wants to get into university, not to play baseball. She reminds him that his birthday is coming up, and asks him why he seems different. He replies that it is not about getting into school, but about being able to "re serve" her. She then asks him about his birthday, which he says is today, and they talk about how they will think about what to do after that. He apologizes for picking the wrong place without getting his input, and reminds her that they will have to start their life together in university right away
