This chapter opens with a flashback to the night before the exam, when Zhengzhou and the other students at the academy were preparing for the exam. Zhengzhou's younger brother, Luoyu, is the subject of the exam and Zhengzhou is angry that his younger brother has been valued by his family since they were children. He stole his entrance exam pass in order to pass the exam that night. He tells Zhengzhou that the exam has been prepared for by the academy and that the students want to kick him out personally. He suggests that Zhengzhou stay in place during the exam so that he can report to the examiners. He also suggests that he and his opponent might be alone and that they have outnumbered Zhengzhou.
