When the narrator is 5 years old, his parents die in a car accident, and he is taken in by his grandmother, who is strict with her children. When the grandmother dies, the narrator sells the house and moves in with his aunt and uncle. The narrator tells his aunt that he has been busy with work lately, and she asks him to rest. He tells her that he is sorry he has some work he needs to do after the accident, but he is sure that it cannot be helped. She asks him if there is anything that he can help with, and when he says there is, she tells him to take off for a few days. She tells him that her aunt is very kind to him, and that she has a picture perfect family picture in her room. She says that she wants to come home to a place where she can feel secure, and this room has the scent of her aunt's house. When she tells her aunt that she would like to introduce him to her grandmother, she says that it is only until she decides on a new home that she can move in.
