In this chapter, the narrator explains that he wants to know what's going on at the school because it's such a big deal. He wants to make sure that there's an internal investigation. He also wants to find out if the school's student, honjou, has been sleeping with another man. He's worried that he'll be humiliated in front of his students if he's found out about it. He tells the narrator to go to the school gate and wait for him there. He asks if he can sleep with him in the night. The narrator says he can, but he doesn't want to tell the other students about it because he wants them to know that he slept with someone else. He goes on to say that if he found out, he'd be ashamed of himself for sleeping with someone who wasn't his own.
