In this chapter, we learn that the old man, Hirata, has come to ask for the return of his money, and that the new man, Enobarashi, is also looking for him. The old man has sent a messenger with the money, but Enobarachi doesn't know what to do with it. He's going to take care of it himself, he says, and he's not going to ask anyone else to do it for him, because he'll be the one to pay back the money.
