It's midnight, and it's time for the cadets to go to bed. They're supposed to be studying for their master's degree, but they haven't even finished their homework yet. The headmistress tells the cadets that they're going to have to get up and do some serious homework. She tells them that the kingdom of grandania is going to get into a war with the empire of the soliel, and that's why she's sending two of her cadets to the empire to negotiate with them. Uh-oh, they've been killed in the process. The cadets are supposed to learn how to be magians, or soldiers, and how to fight for the kingdom. They learn that they have seven ranks: apprentice, grandmaster, apprentice, squad leader, and ace. The ace is the leader of the army's special forces.
