About This Chapter
In this short scene, the monster explains to the audience how he escaped from the monster two years ago. He tells the audience that he has found the remains of his friend, galini, who has been eaten by the monster. He explains that he and the monster have been going in circles around the summit of Mount Dedalus, where the monster is believed to be hiding. They have found a path leading over to the summit, where they have found the body of galini. The monster explains that the remains were partially eaten when they decided to "have fun with what's left of it" . He says that he is athenian, just like his father, and that they will not make it if they don't fight together. The two of them decide to fight together, or they will die. They are exhausted and ready to give in to defeat, but then they receive a message from Ariadne. She tells them that the athenian soldiers have defeated the monster and killed the man, bull. The athenians were able to prove that they had defeated the man because they had proof that the man was dead. The man is dead, and there is nothing they can do. The court thought that the king had fled when they learned of the man's death. Theofanis is to take the news to the king himself.
