Two days later, a pirate ship is sailing through the "hellish pace" of the ocean. The ship's captain, Draan, promises to find the pirates and set them free. Draan is a former priest who was banished from the main island because of his conversion to Christianity. He tells Draan that the island's population has grown so rapidly that if everyone becomes pirates, there will be no pirates left. He also tells the story of a man who looks exactly like Draan's friend, Rodrick, who is planning to trade weapons for ore.
