About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn more about the Holocene. The Holocene is a period of time in the past when humans lived in the same place for thousands of years. It was a time when the world's population was much larger than it is today, and there were many more people in the world than there are today. Holocene scientists have been trying to find new uses for the dead bodies of people who have been killed by earthquakes, volcanoes, and other natural disasters. They've been using a device called an ultra sonic trigger, which is a device that vibrates when it's in high enough frequency to kill a person. This is the same device that's used to kill people during the earthquake in the earthquake-ravaged town of Minas Gerais in Brazil.
