The forest is full of swallowtail blossoms, which are believed to be haunted by the ghosts of the dead. Rawk has been showing the princess around the palace, and she asks to be taken back to her room. She tells Rawk that she wants to know what's going on with her father, and Rawk says that he'll walk her back to his room. He tells her that they're not far from civilization, and that she's not going to thank him for letting her out in the forest. She asks him to touch her, and he says that even though he is an angel, he's a fallen outcast who has given up kindness.
