About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that the man who died in the accident was a doctor from a capital city. The narrator is impressed by the doctor's compassion and kindness. He also tells us about the man's "hush money" , which made him a hero in the eyes of the people. He tells the narrator that he is afraid that something bad will come from the accident. He asks the narrator to leave the matter to him, but the narrator refuses, saying that he has no idea what he is supposed to do. He says that he helped cover up the boy's death, and that he would do anything for the sake of the boy. He wants to know if the man with the scar on his face is the same man who killed the boy, and the narrator says that the scar is the scar from the time when the boy was killed, and he can't find him. He is afraid he will catch a cold from the cold, and asks the master to pretend that nothing ever happened. The master says that if he would like to, he would be there with him, pretending that nothing has happened. He then tells the master that he bought some apples, which the master had asked him to carry. The man had been a womanizer, and his brother was a manizer, too. On the day of his funeral, the man didn't come to the garden after the funeral, and spent the night with his "main girl." The narrator says he doesn't like the way the angels think, so he will just say something if he has something to say. She asks him if he dislikes the angels chief, and if he does, he will say it. She then asks him what he likes about her. She tells him that she still has a grudge against her mother, and she says that she only likes the demon who tempted her. He replies that she is like the people who say she is beautiful, but he is drunk in love. He will ruin the sake, she says.
