In this chapter, the young protagonist is worried about his missing grandfather. He tells his grandfather that he's looking for his family because he was separated from them. He asks his grandfather to come with him to the fireworks display at midnight. The grandfather agrees, and the protagonist tells him that he will give him a token of thanks for not leaving him alone when his grandfather gave him a special binnie keychain. The protagonist says that he and his family are going to the U.S. after the Christmas holidays, so he can show the keychain to his grandfather if he sees him for a long time.
