The scene opens in the middle of the garden, where we learn that Caixin has returned to the Ming household. We learn that he is a friend of Ming's, and that he has come to find Caixin. He tells Caixin that he must go to bed, and Caixin tells him to go back to eating or sleeping like he is supposed to.
