Shidou could see things that he calls "seeds of misfortune" ever since he was a child. It is something like a sticky shadow, and when he doesn't do anything, it brings misfortune to people. He always smashes it with his hand to eliminate them, counting the number as "virtue points". Shidou wishes to pile up good karma so that someday his "curse" will be lifted, and he will stop seeing nightmares. One day, he finds a monster too powerful for him to handle... but tries anyway to save people. There he meets Mashiro, who knows a proper way to fight with the monster. He is an Onmyouji... who is in charge of bringing harmony to this world. Mashiro is immediately aware that Shidou has a special talent, that they'll be the most powerful pair!
