Shanghai, 1999. A city on the edge. People feared to be called losers. There was a criminal syndicate called Heiban based in Shanghai that controls all of China. Their scale and connections were unbelievable. As a son of small restaurant owner, Rui, worked as a gourmet writer and loved his job. His fiancee, Honghua was a beautiful colledge student. Rui enjoyed his life, and was confident that his happy life will continue. But he was too naive. Rui knew his childhood friend, Zihao, became a member of Heiban, but he believed they were still friends. One day Rui helped some children living on the street, and that small good act lead him to tragedy. It was Zihao who destroyed everything he had...Rui decides to do the same thing back.
