The next morning, the Governess tells her son that he's going to Brazil to catch a plane to New York. She tells him to sit down, because Jaques has been setting up "accidents" using a "dummy taxi company" and using homeless people as witnesses. The Governess says that she never meant to hurt Jaques, and that she's so sorry that she doesn't want Jaques to help her. Jaques says that he never meant for anything to happen to her, and he promises to do what he can to get her out of this mess. He tells her that she was going to run away with Jaques and then he would fuck her. She's not going to do that, he says, because it'll ruin her life. He thanks her for helping Jaques's case, and thanks her again for her civic duty.
