The narrator tells us that he's avoiding the boy on purpose. He doesn't want to be seen with him, he says, because he likes someone else. He's not going to tell him who it was that day that she asked the boy to come over to her house. He can't even hear her, because she's so loud. The narrator thanks the boy for coming over, but he'll have to wait until tomorrow to tell her where he went that day.
