The scene opens in a florist's shop. It's the evening before Valentine's Day, and we're introduced to a new character. He's named Lorry, and he's just arrived at the shop. Lorry tells us that she's glad to see him, because she has something important to tell him. She tells him that she was afraid of him before, but that he was kind to her, and now she wants to say that she likes him too. She asks Lorry if he'd ever kissed or had sex before, and Lorry says that he hasn't, but Lorry explains that she asked him the day before and he told her that there was no way she wouldn't do it with someone she didn't like. She's not sure if Lorry is joking or not, but she says she'd wipe her tears with her handkerchief if she were Lorry. She also tells Lorry that she found laundry in the shop, and that she thought she would tidy up the place, but then she realized that she couldn't.
