In this second scene, the masochistic narrator tries to convince himself that he is doing the right thing by going out with Mr. Sagami. He tells himself that this is a dream and that he has to act like a sadist in order to get out of the relationship. He then tells us that he went to the morning business meeting and that they were turned away from each other. When he asks what happened, he learns that the narrator had told him to keep their relationship a secret. The narrator then realizes that Mr. sagami was just acting.
