Drifting Dragons 1-14

In this chapter, Vannie tells us that she's been hanging out with the other guys at the docks. She's bummed that they're not having a good time, but she still wants to hang out with them. She tells them that they shouldn't be hanging around "humiliating men" . Vannie asks if they'd like to have a drink together, and they all agree that they should. They're all drunk, and Vannie says that he's the only one who hasn't had a drink in a long time. He tells her that he just ran off to the docks with everyone else, and he'll be picking up the tab for everyone's drinks. He also says that the front man is feeling a little "unresponsive" lately, so maybe the engines aren't running as smoothly as they used to. He asks Vannie if she thinks that's a good idea, and she says that she doesn't think so. She also tells him that she just ran into a guy who's just gotten back from working on a big ship. He's asking her to be a "fellow draker" , which is basically like a buddy. She says that her job is to take care of the customers, but that she won't do that yet. She asks him to put her down before he starts talking, so that she can get a better look at him. He gives her some crushed peanuts, which he says he likes very much. He says that his dad was a "draker" when he was a kid, so it's nice to be back in the real world. He wants to go back to work, but he
