About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that Cacti's lawyer has called on Cacti to testify in his favor at the trial, and that the manager of the hotel where Cacti is staying has issued a statement saying that he will be at the hotel in two minutes. Cacti thanks his father for listening to him, and thanks his lawyer for asking him to testify. He says that he has not spoken to Cacti since he left home, but that he is going to check himself into the hotel and see if he can stay there for a few days. He tells his father that he does not want to spoil his reunion with Cacti, but Cacti tells him that there is an aswang "on the loose" in the town, and Cacti asks if he has heard about the dog that was found dead at the house of the man who hired him as a guide. He also tells Cacti that he was checked out of a mental hospital by Cacti the other day, and he wonders if the busaw who eats the food at a wake is actually a corpse-eating creature, as stories from the region have it. He asks if the whole town has gone hysterical because someone at the wake has eaten the food and turned into a "busaw" . He then asks if they are in the midst of a flag ceremony, and they agree to make a threesome.
